Design Tips for Your Trade Show Banners

Participating in tradeshows has become part of many business’s marketing plans. It’s one effective way of getting your brand and name out there while at the same time gathering new leads. If you own a business and you’ve never participated in any of these events, you better join one soon and you need plan it. And part of planning is designing your trade show banners and you need to do it right. Here are a few design tips for your trade show banners:

  • Cover the basics. State who you are, what you do, and what makes you standout from your competitors. People have a short attention span and if they don’t see what they expect to see, they’ll quickly move on to the next booth. And remember, the main purpose of joining exhibits and tradeshows is to get your name and your business out there, so you better accomplish that through your banners.
  • Keep it simple and direct. Don’t place a large amount of text in your banners or else they’d look cramped and busy all over. Just make it simple and direct to the point. If you’re in the catering business for example, use attractive but simple copies that say you’re a fine caterer. Don’t use highfaluting words and jargons. Stick to the simple terms so that everyone will understand your copy very easily.
  • Use attention-grabbing colors. Make sure, though, that they’re appropriate for your nature of business. You don’t want light pinks and baby blues when you’re in the real estate business. Keep it corporate but still attractive, like reds against beiges, or yellows against dark browns. It’s all about presentation and harmony.
  • Design with your prospective customers in mind. Keep an objective mind when designing your banners. This means thinking from your customers’ viewpoint. If you find this hard to do, consult with a few outsiders and ask if there’s anything in your banner that needs to be tweaked or redone. Ask them if your banner is designed in such a way that it’s easily understood but has great recall.
  • Consider motion and lighting. If you really want your booth to standout, consider some movement and lighting. Don’t overdo it though, as both can be distracting, taking away the attention from what you really intend to advertise which is your name and your products or services. Again, simplicity is the key.
Participating in exhibits and trade shows are really important for your business, so it’s only right that you plan it right, especially custom trade show displays and trade show banners. Designing them shouldn’t be too hard, as long as you know what to put, how to lay them out, and how to present them.
