It is no breaking news that our planet is suffering everyday and not just environmentally, even on moral grounds. It is easy to say that the human race is slowly deteriorating and causing harm to each other, as well as to other species around it. The Mayans may have been proved wrong in their predictions about the date of the end of the world, but surely major catastrophes will swallow a lot of our living world. It would be an answer to the misdeeds of man and his utter disregard for the environment in the name of technological development.

Environmental solutions to saving the world: If we humans want our planet to remain as beautiful and full of resources as it is now, there are some major reform movements required not in some particular field but in every field throughout the world. The foremost of them is utilization of the technologies that are greener and environmentally friendly like bio fuels or hydrogen fuel cells. According to experts, the rules are the same like those for any living organism on the planet; the healthier the environment remains the longer it will live.
The second solution is to find ways or technologies that will significantly reduce the waste that we produce every year. The planet is under a lot of stress to handle the amount of harmful and poisonous waste that is produced. In the name of development it is on the threshold of the capacity it can bear. In the near future, with the ever-increasing population the planet will not be able to handle the burden and there could be some significant changes. These changes which will occur in the environment might not be good for the living world.

Saving the world on Moral grounds: It is not just about the fall of civilization on moral standards and fighting terrorism. Far more serious questions haunt us today. For example, we know that there are millions of Ethiopians who die of starvation every year and we can save them if all the nations come together and provide them with food. But the bigger picture is that in order to increase production of food and provide for those millions, billions of trees have to be cut down and the planet will deteriorate even more.

Now the question is will you save the millions of humans or will you save thousands of butterflies and chipmunks? The cost of saving the planet is very high. To some extent it will impact significantly on the development of the human race but experts at suggest that we look at the broader aspect of this issue. You have to save the planet for future generations to be able to live comfortably no matter what the cost. These are tough but necessary choices to be made and therefore every individual will have to understand the long-term effects and not the short-term losses that will affect them.
