What’s the big attraction with The Big Smoke? Over the years, people from across the UK and globe have uprooted and made London their home. Estimated to be home to around 8 million people, we ask the question what makes London so appealing to outsiders and what activities are available to keep everyone amused.
Studying in London
Home to over a 100,000 students from across the globe, London is the ideal City to further an education. With many Universities having campuses established within in London, finding the right course will be relatively easy. Being homesick is inevitable for any student, possibly more so for an international student, but as London is a hotspot for many travellers, it won’t take long to bump into a fellow countryman.
Working in London
Some of the UK’s most fulfilling and profitable jobs are based in London hence why we see many top professionals from across the country taking up residence here. As London is home to financial, political and technological institutes alike, an influx of creative and highly paid jobs are readily available. Where lunch breaks may have once consisted of eating a stale cheese sandwich in a smoke filled office canteen, in London you can dine al fresco whilst schmoozing with potential clients.
Socialising in London
Home to some of the most prolific theatres and stage shows in the world, The West End is a great place to spend an evening with friends after a busy day in the office. Not one for theatres, London is home to some of the UK’s most popular bands from the present to the past who make regular visits to the local clubs and pubs circuit (therefore giving you a great excuse to visit the pub on a Wednesday evening). If the arts is not your thing then settle down to watch one of London’s prolific Football teams gracing the best stadiums the country has to offer. To list every social idea would be impossible as London is blessed with a variety of options to meet the needs of all.
Living in London
Waking up to spectacular scenery of the Thames or overlooking one of many London parks, property in London is widely available to accommodate the needs and budgets of all. With converted Victorian town houses to ultra modern properties available, living in London can at times feel like a mish mash of centuries rolled into one street. The sense of history and historical events are a constant reminder that you are living in one of the World’s hotspots.
Getting Away
As London acts as a central hub to many of the World’s most popular locations, getting away from the City is relatively easy. With cheap air travel available, flying to France for the weekend will not break the bank. Fancy something closer to home? Iconic nature reserves such as the New Forest, Hampshire are only a short drive away . So instead of being surrounded by tower blocks you can replace this view with picturesque scenery of densely populated forests.
