Crafting Ideas to Decorate your Bedroom

Bedrooms are the perfect place to show off your arts and crafts skills. Bedrooms, especially children’s bedrooms, are often colourful or an adult room with a country theme is a great place to show off some home crafts skills. Paper Mache, sewing and knitting are all crafts that can add new life to a bedroom space. Taking inspiration from the environment can be a positive thing, like using sea shells or pebbles to create interesting displays. Crocheting can create beautiful rugs appropriate for a bedroom space. With all these different crafts available to you, there should be no reason why you cannot create an arresting and beautiful bedroom space.

Big Changes to a Bedroom with Crafts

Nothing is simpler than painting a new coat of colour to a room to brighten it. Choose a pastel shade to lighten a room as spring and summer comes round the corner. Or, you could try turning a bed into a sleepy nook with a tension rod and curtains. Furniture can be painted different colours, or matte paint can be stencilled upon with gloss matte paint on furniture. Or, put wallpaper on furniture for a new look and pulls and knobs can be replaced to create a new style. Stencils on a painted wall can also look new and appealing, or try stencilling on the ceiling for something really different. Bed wear can be made new with new trimmings put on bed skirts or pillowcases with simple sewing techniques.

Little Decorative Craft Tips

Try making your own pillow with some decorative themed pins in the corner. Iron on colourful patches to plain linen for a nice effect. Plants are a lovely decorative piece. Small containers filled with different plants like wheat grass look sweet for spring. Flowers will have a more colourful effect and roses or tulips in certain colours can add effectively to a colour scheme. Put Spring cards into a collection of similar looking small frames and hang on the wall. This will create a piece of cheap art, or make your own paintings and frame them in frames painted in whatever colour best suits. Throws in different colours can immediately update a bed. Decorative hangers are a nice idea for a present for a girl; decorate them with felt and fabric flowers for a tasteful effect.

Other Ideas to Suit Bedrooms

Displaying kids’ art work in their bedrooms is the perfect way to be proud of your little ones and looks age appropriate. The craft of decoupage is a fun way to personalize a trinkets box or a piece of furniture like a dresser. Decoupage is about sticking pieces of paper cut out in different colours decorated with gold leaf or other decorations like special paint effects. Headboards on the bed can be decorated in different designs from striped with ribbons to a mosaic style, so the main thing to remember is to be adventurous. Other fun activities to do with the kids include making ribbon scrap lampshades or lampshades out of denim.
