Wooden Motorcycle From The 19 th Century

In 1885, Gottlieb Daimler built his first bike, wooden bike. The first successful tests of the motorcycle passed November 10, 1885. They rode it for three kilometers (two miles) alongside the river Neckar, from Cannstatt to Untertürkheim, reaching 12 kilometres per hour (7 mph).  It was constructed mostly of wood, with the wheels being of the iron-banded wooden-spoked wagon-type, definitely a "bone-crusher" chassis. It was powered by a single-cylinder Otto-cycle engine, and may have had a spray-type carburetor. It was named the Reitwagen ("riding car").
