Musician Plays Violin During Brain Surgery

Roger Frisch of Plymouth, who had been a concert master for 30 years, began experiencing difficulty playing notes on his violin. When doctors diagnosed him with essential tremors, a condition that occurs when the brain begins sending abnormal signals to the muscles, he underwent a procedure to mend the ailment. As Frisch played notes, doctors were able to sync electrodes that were implanted into his brain. As the implant emit a low degree of electrical pulses, erroneous signals caused by essential tremors are canceled out.
