Rat-snappers

Despite the fact that a bloody war in Mozambique ended 13 years ago,
the land is still hundreds of thousands of mines and other explosive devices,
because of which the past 20 years, killing nearly a million civilians.
Scientists have invented a new solution - the use of rats in the role of engineers.
African marsupials are able to explore 100 square meters for half an hour
(accuracy to locate explosives - 100 percent), and a man - only 50 for the whole day.

Besides the content of rodents much cheaper than dogs, for example.
And most importantly, work in rats perfectly safe: they are too easy to bring the mine into operation,
weight of the largest rats is 3 kilograms.
Smell of the explosive device, the animal stops and starts to dig.
Their sharpness intuition can be compared with a dog. The animals quickly learn --
Training took six months to a year, after which they are experienced deminers.
Rodents are not completely tied to their "trainers"
they are interested only treat in the form of nuts or a banana for a job well done.
