On-Page
SEO is a generic name for Search Engine Optimization techniques made
directly on a website. While on-page SEO refers to the techniques
used to optimize articles, tags, meta tags and keywords, off-page SEO
refer to social media marketing, link building and directory
submission. Let’s see the most effective method to optimize the
content of your website with on-site SEO.
1. Choose
the keywords smartly
Any
optimization process on-site starts from some keywords. Your articles
have to contain those words, so you must choose those keywords
smartly. Choose some words that have a solid number of searches, but
for which the competition is low.
2.
Titles
The
titles of your articles have to be short but relevant, and they must
also contain the keywords. Make sure that the titles are relevant and
attractive, so the readers would be engaged since the star.
Don’t use
CAPS LOCK to write the titles. It is annoying, aggressive and hard to
read. If you think that your title would be noticed by readers easier
this way, you are right, but the title would be observed from a
negative point of view. Moreover, this practice is discouraged by
Google, so your page would be penalized because of this.
Use a
different title for every page (Use Dynamic Title Generator where it
is possible).
3. Tags
The
tag DESCRIPTION is displayed in search engines, so you would need to
use it. Make short descriptions, on the subject, with an attractive
description, like a resume of the article. Use H1, H2 if possible,
but don’t overreact.
4. Bold
and italic words
Use
bold and italic characters for keywords, quotes and important ideas.
However, this is only for visual effects, as it is known that Google
does not consider those words more important just because they are
bolded.
5.
Density
A
keyword that is used twice in a 2000 word article might be considered
irrelevant by search engines, while an article of 200 words that
contains a keyword 50 times is considered spam. In both cases, the
effect of using the keyword for search engines is zero, even
negative. This is why you will have to use the keywords in the right
manner. Density is the indicator that could help you in determining
how many times a keyword must be used in order to be effective.
Today, 2-5 % density is considered fair, but the Google algorithms
change often, therefore this percentage might not be good for the
next month.
6. Good
content
Although
it is the last on-page SEO technique on our list, it is the most
important one. Google declared war to the unfair practices of
promoting websites, such as link farming, link commerce, black hat
SEO and directory submission. This is why valuable and relevant
content remains the most important factor in the Google algorithms.
The best method to have a successful website is to write good,
original and interesting articles often. This way, you will engage
your readers into a pleasant experience
