No one knows what sparked it, but the past decade can be argued as the golden age of images. It’s as if the world has finally discovered that images are such a powerful agent to inspire, communicate and to grab attention. I mean we’ve always known that natural fact of life, but when in history did humans store 300 million photos on a single place (Facebook) daily? When did we ever had this ability to capture wonderful moments with gadgets we always carry with us in our pockets?
It’s unmistakable that when we’re off to some place great, we want to capture photographs. This happens before the journey starts, while we travel, on the destination and on our way home. That’s how much our craze is and it translates to hundreds sometimes even thousands of images.
To make the most out of your vacation, below are some of the five best destinations all over the world for photography lovers:
Prague, Czech Republic
If you were to meet photographers who make it a habit to go around the world, they would tell you that Prague is on their list. After my first trip in there, I personally have developed a bias for that city as I visit it twice on my yearly list. When you want to capture architecture, history, romance…yes especially romance. Plenty of spots in that city that may pass as locations for Disney movies. Many different views of that city on sunset have made it on the covers of magazines around the world.
Yosemite National Park
A photographer always wants to work with nature. Yosemite National Park is the only place in the world that I know of that seemingly has the most of what nature can offer in one place. Inside the reserve, the weather varies as if no other place does. One can experience snow, marchlands, mountain views, forests, rivers, and even desserts.
Alaska
Photography of the white pristine glaciers has captivated many people in all walks of life. Somehow, the enormous difference of the glacial landscape from the normal terrain we inhabit strikes our eyes and minds as profoundly beautiful. You don’t have to go through the extreme of traveling unto the poles if you wish to capture the white rugged vastness that stretches as far as the eyes could see. Alaska can do the trick.
Angkor Wat, Cambodia
It was once the center of Hinduism at its height. For over 500 years, the Khmer civilization flourished when it was still a bustling city. The ancient architecture crept with flora is a photographer’s playground. Not only will the architecture and the eerie atmosphere that you’d definitely feel are the ones that would validate your travel, but also the remaining monks and the people that might end up in your photographs.
The Great Barrier Reef, Australia
The only prerequisite is that you shouldn’t be afraid of oceans and you’re all good. This system of coral reef is the largest in the world. It has more breathtaking views than most destinations for photographers above sea level. It stretches more than 2,000 km and is home to probably the most number of different species in any place in the world.
So, choose your favorite destinations and start your photography.
